Week 8: Tribal Council

Fuego beach

It had been a whirlwind week for Chelsea and Paul. They had done everything they could to get into a majority when they were on Hielo, but eventually their time ran out until they were given the chance to swap over to Fuego. So they had hoped to put everything they had left into their first Immunity Challenge on their new tribe, but unfortunately while Chelsea performed admirably, Paul continued to struggle.

Through the first 5 weeks of the game, Paul had done nothing to stand out either way in the challenges, but for 3 weeks in a row, he had struggled noticeably. Fuego had promised to give their newcomers a fair chance to integrate with the tribe, but that from this point on they needed to focus on winning Immunity. This was a long game, and there were a number of weeks likely left until the merge, so Paul knew that Fuego’s sights were going to be squarely placed on him.

So Paul’s only chance would be to talk with everyone on his new tribe and see where the cracks were. That was his only chance, but instead he slept. The rigors of the game had clearly been wearing on Paul for a few weeks, and though he loved the game, he loved his rest even more. That allowed the rest of the tribe the opportunity to come up with a plan for the week that didn’t include Paul. When he finally awoke on the day of Tribal Council, Paul realized if he was going to stick around, it was time to spring into action. Would he have enough time to create another target?

SURVIVOR

Welcome back to Tribal Council Fuego. We understand that even though you won last week’s challenge, the result was essentially nulled as you lost Bryan and Peter but gained Chelsea and Paul, and you may have feelings about that…

Everyone ready to vote? If anyone has a Hidden Immunity idol and you want to play it now, would be the time to do so.

I’ll go tally the votes. Once the votes have been read, the decision is final. The person voted out will have to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I’ll read the votes.

First Vote…

Paul, that’s 5, that’s enough. By a vote of 8-1, Paul you have been eliminated. Please bring your torch and say goodbye to your tribe.

Well here’s what I’ll say about this vote. Sometimes life gets in the way of the game. You’ll take trips. You’ll have important business meetings. You’ll be sleeping. When the Immunity Questions are posted these things can potentially have a very big impact on your performance. But on a connected planet, there’s always time for a little strategy. This game will continue to reward those that put the most time into it, and it was designed that way. Paul has had a busy few weeks, and we are seeing the direct result of that as he’s been left out of strategy at Hielo and now Fuego. The important thing is that it IS just a game, so if important life things are getting in the way, all that happens is you get voted out and then you get more time back and life continues!

I continue to appreciate all the time everyone puts into Survivor Hamilton – whether its a lot or a little. You are all the best.

So with Hielo up on Fuego, 9-8 with 17 people left on the island, we head into week 9. The next Immunity Question will be posted at any time between Sunday morning at 12:01am and Wednesday night at 11:59pm. Have a great weekend. Paul – love you!

Go to Week 9.
