Last week on Survivor Hamilton: Fire & Ice… After Hielo finally won a challenge, everyone on Fuego was desperate to survive the last vote before the merge. In the wildest Tribal Council yet, Alex used two Idols to blindside Graham. On to the individual portion of the game…
Come on in guys! Relampago, welcome to your first Immunity Challenge as a merged tribe. Tribal Immunity is no more, and from now on you’ll be competing for the individual Immunity necklace. With this around your neck, you are safe at Tribal Council, and without it you are not.

For this challenge you’re going to stand on a narrow beam, while balancing a statue on a long pole over your head. At regular intervals you’ll move farther down the beam, where it narrows, making it more difficult. If at any point you fall off, or the statue drops, you’re out of the challenge. The last person left standing wins Immunity, and safety from the vote. One of the losers will become the 13th person voted out of the game at Tribal Council.

With everyone in position, poles raised above their heads, the challenge began! The first individual Immunity Challenge already seemed different to the group, more difficult, more challenging, and far more pressure to keep yourself safe with Tribal Council every week. Even though the castaways could balance the pole on their heads, the wind alone was making it nearly impossible, and within 30 seconds, a frustrated Jordan dropped off the narrow beam, complaining about his feet not fitting on the narrow beam. Next to him, Rebecca suddenly dropped, because your shot at Immunity can end just like that!
Luke had been standing next to Jordan when he fell, and he was more than happy to trash-talk his ex-Fuego pal, but that little bit of distraction was all that was needed for Luke the become the 3rd person to drop out of the challenge. The sun was beating down on the 9 remaining, with Silas complaining about how the heat were making his hands disgustingly slick. Beside him, Meg’s statue wobbled, but she was able to steady it, and as Silas distractedly glanced over, his statue tumbled to the sand, eliminating Silas from the challenge.
It was now time to move down to the next, narrower section of the beam. So slowly, the 8 remaining began to shuffle their feet. At one end of the line, Alex and Stef were looking solid, at the other Tyler was grimacing as his toes curled around the pointed edge of the wooden beam, before falling to the ground, his chance at Immunity over. And just as he fell, Stef too tipped backwards, surprising Alex, who had to steady herself. Stef, also out of the challenge. We were now down to 6 left, and time to move again to the 3rd of 4 sections on the beam already!

Stevie moved so slowly, careful not to drop her teetering statue. Bryan, sweat pouring off his new purple headband, inched into the 3rd section. Jonathan wasn’t moving fast enough. He had to move to the next section within 20 seconds, and he was moving so very slow, that he ran out of time and was eliminated, leaving only 5 left. But Jonathan wasn’t the only one struggling in the 3rd section. Though Claudia had been looking strong all challenge, her statue had moved right to the edge of the tiny platform on the end of her pole. As she tried to keep the statue steady, Claudia lost her concentration, her balance, and Immunity.
With the challenge coming up on the 45 minute mark the heat was bearing down even harder on the 4 remaining in the challenge who would now need to move to the final section. Deep down Bryan knew this was it for him. The final section of the beam was so narrow that there was no way he was going to be able to outlast the 3 women remaining. So as they all tried to calmly move their feet into the final section, Bryan stepped down, losing his chance at Immunity. That left only Meg, Stevie and Alex vying for the first Individual Immunity of the season.

Of course these 3 had history now. Alex had just orchestrated the blindside of Meg and Stevie’s close ally Graham at the last Tribal Council before the merge by using TWO Hidden Immunity Idols (did that mean that one was back in the game somewhere?). Of all the castaways still on the island, Alex and then Stevie were the top performers in Immunity Challenges, with Meg not too far behind. So with aching feet, sweaty hands, and tired bodies, they held on as long as they could. The wind was also picking back up at the worst time, and just as Alex looked like she was about to lose her shot at Immunity, Stevie’s statue wobbled to the ground, leaving only Meg and Alex left!
Glancing sideways at eachother with fierce looks of determination on their faces, these two strong women put on a show, lasting another 15 minutes before one of them finally stepped off the beam, unable to continue. As the wind swirlded around them, kicking up sand in their eyes, the person that finally fell off the beam was Meg. And that means that ALEX WINS IMMUNITY and safety from Saturday’s Tribal Council. For the rest of you, one of you will be voted out, and become the 13th person voted out of the game. Alex, come get your Immunity necklace. You earned it bud!
