Immunity Challenge #12

Previously on Survivor Hamilton: Old Meets New
The first hiccup of the season was encountered as it was determined that Monday’s Immunity Challenge question was not clearly worded enough to determine winning and losing tribes. As a result, Wednesday’s Tribal Council was cancelled. The remainder of the week will be all about getting on track from scheduling and producer/player interaction standpoints.

With all that happened in our last challenge, I will be placing an extra emphasis on reading and re-reading my questions to ensure that each one has only a single possible interpretation. I’m sure that everyone reading this can understand that it’s very difficult to put myself in the minds of everyone else, just as it’s impossible for everyone to read my mind. That being said, everything about this game is difficult to manage, and needs to be done carefully to ensure that every single player has a positive experience.

So if I promise to take more care in my Immunity and Reward Challenge questions, then the players can focus on being understanding, realizing it’s just a game, and that the challenges only serve the purpose of getting a portion of us to Tribal Council each week. Every single player but one is going to lose this game, so let’s all try to have fun, and remember that every decision I make is to ensure that the game is fair for EVERYBODY, and lacking that possibility, fair for the MAJORITY. That means that not everyone will be happy with every decision, but believe me that I don’t play favorites, and if I had favorites, these types of “referee calls” have often gone against them.

So let’s get right to the challenge hey?

With Kobara and Nevala each having an extra player, they chose to sit out Chelsea and Andre, both getting their first breaks of the season.

Changing gears after Monday, I decided not only to make this challenge easy, but hopefully more fun as well. On top of that, I told the players what the challenge was going to be, so they have no excuse for not being prepared. All that the tribes had to do was have 6 players each send me a selfie picture with one of the following 10 items, with none repeated:

A Strawberry
A Pet (other than a Dog or Cat)
A Golf Ball
A Rolling Pin
A Bible
A Snorkel
An Axe
An Ace of Spades Playing Card
A Rose (in bloom)
A Brake Pedal in a Car

So it’s pretty clear right? Each participating player would need to send a picture to me that included one of the above items and their face. This Immunity Challenge would also be unique because ONLY ONE tribe was going to win Immunity, and that would be the fastest tribe to send selfies with 6 items. The other two would be taking part in a joint Tribal Council on Saturday, where the 11th and 12th players would be voted out of the game. High stakes right?

Let’s see how it played out.

Very quickly the answers started coming in from Ulloo and Nevala, making it clear that Kobara was taking a more organized approach. But would that slow start come back to bite them when there would be only one winning tribe tonight? The first picture came in from April who looked intimidating with her axe. Slightly less intimidating was Jon, who answered next with a Bible. Bryan closed out the top 3 with a photo of his face and his brake pedal.

Kobara: 0
Nevala: 1
Ulloo: 2

This was going to be a fast challenge, thank God. Graham answered next from the Jackman-Hamilton household looking less tough than April with the same axe. David C. responded next for Ulloo with our first strawberry, before James surprised us with a rolling pin!

Kobara: 0
Nevala: 3
Ulloo: 3

And now the challenge is about to get done real fast. Ulloo took the opportunity that Monday granted them, and simply ran away with it. Sasha took a selfie with an ace of spades, Paul went and got a golf ball (let’s go golfing!), and Ruth closed out Ulloo’s win with a Bible and a smile. Soooooo….

Kobara: 0
Nevala: 3
Ulloo: 6

Ulloo wins Immunity!!! Wow what a performance. The tribes are about to even up on Saturday. Let’s close out the challenge shall we?

Elliott sent in an ace, Peter then wedged himself into his car with his brake pedal, before Chris did the EXACT SAME THING which was not counted. Sharon sent a Bible, Cowin a golf ball (let’s go golfing!), then Amanda closed out Nevala’s correct answers. Jordan sent in a very cute but unacceptable photo with his and Claudia’s dog, before Kyle and Dave sent in the brake pedal and rolling pin respectively.

Final Rankings:
1st: Ulloo: 6 –> Immunity Yeah!
2nd: Nevala: 5 –> Tribal Council
3rd: Kobara: 5 –> Tribal Council

So we will be very excited for a double Tribal Council on Saturday with both the Kobara and Nevala tribes.

Looking forward to it 🙂
