Week 1: Tribal Council

Welcome to the 2nd post of Week 1! These posts will check in with the losing tribe heading into Tribal Council, in this case Fuego, and shed a little light into the feelings and strategies heading into the vote. I will do my best to keep it entertaining, somewhat accurate, and free of game-ruining information leaks. Long gone are the days where everyone is voting just for themselves, and all votes are secret, so you will see some reference to the aftermath of Tribal Council in next week’s post, but I won’t be openly listing who voted for who or anything. If you know that a certain vote is sensitive, let me know and I’ll do my best to protect your game.

Fuego beach
Coming back from a demolition at the hands of Hielo in the season’s first Immunity Challenge left the Fuego tribe a little confused as to what would be the best path forward as a tribe. On one hand, you had Claudia, Jordan, and Stevie who performed very poorly indeed in the immunity challenge, but they also needed to focus on tribal cohesiveness, and a campsite that was barely livable so far.

Rebecca and Bryan wanted to focus on getting the shelter built, because were those rainclouds in the distance? but absolutely no one wanted to be the first to go home, and this would be a wild night. Jordan had profusely apologized for his disastrous performance in the Immunity Challenge, while Claudia and Stevie wisely accepted some blame without overdoing it. Still, to go head to head with Hielo again next week, the tribe would need to be strong if they wanted a chance at winning. There was definitely a contingent of the tribe that thought it would be easy to get rid of Claudia or Jordan, but they seemed like challenge ineptness brought them pretty close together, and a strong pair could take an alliance from a minority of 5, to a majority of 7.

Plus, there was talk of idols. This early in the game, would someone find one and change everything already? This paranoia became rampant when Chris decided to go to the well, and Peter decided that he couldn’t be trusted to walk on his own. From there, everyone was watching everyone, and the shelter was not getting built, and fire was not getting started, and food was not being scavenged. But strategies were emerging, and one such strategy belonged to Jon. Deciding to throw a wrench into the mix, Jon announced that he was going to vote for himself out of completely nowhere.

The rest of Fuego didn’t know what to make of that announcement. Jon’s reasoning was that no one had bothered to ask him to be in an alliance, and he wasn’t feeling the game so he was effectively quitting, but could it be that simple? Graham suggested to a small group if Jon’s voting for himself, why don’t we just vote for him too? But Meg and Iain, at the same time, wondered if Jon had already found an idol and was trying to trick them into voting for him, so his own target could go home. It was then that Jon went off on his own to take something called an “aqua dump.” Look it up. It’s a real Survivor thing.

With 9 people at camp, Jordan and Claudia off doing random things around the beach to provide “value”, and Jon presumably looking for an idol, it was the perfect opportunity for a group meeting. It was clear that they had 3 options, Jon, Jordan, and Claudia. Jordan or Claudia going home could improve the overall performance in the next challenge, but Jon was already erratic, and predictability or lack thereof is one of the most important factors in building an alliance. Jon hadn’t even been on the radar, but now was he the favourite to go home first? Just then, Jon arrived back at what would hopefully eventually be a real camp, and announced Everybody tell me a number between 1-100 if you don’t want to be going home tonight!

Everyone was stunned by this announcement and Bryan asked Jon if he had an idol. Jon wouldn’t confirm, but again demanded that he be provided with numbers or else they were in danger of going home. So, in confusion and with the sun setting and rain on the way, Fuego headed to their first Tribal Council.

SURVIVOR
As this was Fuego’s first time at Tribal Council, they first had to go and grab their torches and dip them into the fire, because in this game, fire represents life, and when your fire goes out, so do you.

As a group we can think of a way to have questions and answers or live vote readings, but at the time of writing this, these are pipe dreams and I will just get to the vote. It’s time to vote.

I’ll go tally the votes.

If anybody has a Hidden Immunity Idol and you want to play it, now would be the time to do so.

Alright, I’ll read the votes.

First vote…
Jon

Second vote…
Jon
That’s 2 votes Jon

Third vote…

Fourth vote…
Jon
That’s 4 votes Jon

Fifth vote…

Sixth vote…
Jon
That’s 6 votes Jon

*opens 7th vote*

1st person voted out of Survivor Hamilton: Fire & Ice…
Jon

That’s seven, that’s enough, you need to bring me your torch. Jon, the tribe has spoken…

With that a snuff of the torch, Jon turned and whispered All shall fall and he walked out.

Well sometimes less is more in Survivor, and apparently a tribe can be unanimous. Grab your torches, head back to camp, goodnight.

Well that was an exciting first week of Survivor Hamilton! We had Hielo come together extremely well and dominate the first Immunity Challenge, and Fuego go completely nuts after they lost. Jon certainly had an interesting strategy at the end there, but ultimately waited just a little too long to get into the game, tried to make a bizarre move and totally paid for it.

So tune in between Sunday morning and Tuesday night for the 2nd Immunity Question, and again on Wednesday to see the aftermath of tonight’s vote and the results of another Immunity Challenge!

Go to Week 2.

  1. Although I love this game more than almost anything in the world, it is time for me to step down from my post and spend more time with my family. I do not fear the unknown. I will meet my new challenges head-on, and I will succeed, and I will laugh in the faces of those who doubt me. It’s been a pleasure working with some of you, and I will not forget those of you soon. But remember, while today it is me… We all shall fall.
