Week 13: Immunity Challenge

Last week on Survivor Hamilton: Fire & Ice… Hielo continued their downward spiral with their 4th Immunity Challenge loss in a row, and the game came full circle for Chelsea, when she was voted out of Hielo for a 2nd time.

Hielo beach

Things were not looking so hot for Hielo. Silas and Jonathan had now seen their 10 original Hielos either voted out or swapped to the other tribe, but at least they finally felt like the last kings of Hielo! There had been plenty of drama through the first 12 weeks, and it was their humble opinion that they had caused none of it. They had been through Cowin’s drama, Elliott & Peter’s ongoing rivalry, and the culmination of a potential new rivalry between Cait and Chelsea. Through it all, only they had persevered, and now the drama would need to come to an end. Outnumbered by 3 original Fuegos on their own tribe, Silas had been working on swaying Bryan to their side, but Jordan and Claudia had proved just too darn likeable, leading to their survival in 2 Hielo Tribal Councils. If they lost again though, these 2 lovebirds may be in serious trouble…

Fuego beach

On Fuego they were wondering if they would ever lose again. In fact, it was eerily reminiscient of Week 2 Hielo when they too believed themselves to be unstoppable. Alex, Stef and Tyler kept on showing up to Immunity Challenges to see their one-time allies out of the game, but it wasn’t all that bad, because they were over here on Fuego surviving alongside their one-time rivals. They had been welcomed openly, but week after week of intense competition had hardended the tribes against eachother, and it was proving difficult to break into the Fuego inner circle. If they kept on winning until the merge… then they wouldn’t have any problems, but if Fuego finally lost? Who knows…

Come on in guys! Fuego, getting your first look at HieloChelsea voted out at last week’s Tribal Council. Ready to get to your lucky 13th Immunity Challenge? First things first, Alex, gotta take back the idol, which is once again, up for grabs.

For this week’s challenge, one at a time, every person from each tribe will race across a floating bridge carrying a body board attached to a long rope. Once they reach the platform, they’ll grab a bag and hang on, as the rest of the tribe cranks a giant winch pulling them back to shore on the board. Once the tribes have all five bags, the tribes will use the balls inside on a giant slingshot to hit 5 targets. The first tribe to hit all targets wins this all-important Immunity, and safety from the vote. The loser, a date with me at Tribal Council, where one of you will become the 12th person voted out of the game. Fuego, you’ve got 3 extra members, gotta sit 3 out. I’ll give you a minute to strategize.

Ok, sitting out for Fuego are Rebecca, Tyler and Graham. For Immunity, Survivors ready? Go!

Up first we had Alex running across the bouncing floating bridge, almost tumbling over the side, but making it to the platform, while Jonathan fell in the water immediately and needed to start again, giving Fuego the early lead! Now it was time for Fuego to get cranking on the giant wooden spoked wheel, and in no time Alex was zipping along the top of the water, the blue surf splashing her face. Once back at the beach, Luke sprinted out onto the bridge, but he couldn’t keep his balance and slipped into the water as Jonathan splashed by him on his board, laughing while he desperately held onto the rope.

Jordan was up next for Hielo, and he slowed it down, taking one step at a time trying to maintain his balance, while across from him, Luke was swearing at the ocean. Literally cursing Poseiden, so that was weird. Soon enough Jordan was back, and Bryan was making it look easy, as if the previous 12 weeks and all those votes against weren’t wearing on him at all. He confidently ran down the beach, across the floating bridge, retrieved the bag, jumped into the water, grabbed the rope, and was pulled back in the time that Luke finally slithered on his belly all the way to the platform, with barely the strength to latch on to the rope. Desperate to catch up, Fuego just began pulling him in, and though submerged under the water the entire time, he wouldn’t let go. He couldn’t let go.

So amazingly, Hielo was in the lead as Claudia grabbed their last bag, and Silas cheered the group on to pull her in. With Meg still to go, it was time for Hielo to start shooting, and Silas went first, taking a few shots to hit the first blue target for Hielo. He was just hit the 2nd target as Meg was finally pulled back into the beach, and Luke, eager to redeem himself, declared he would do the shooting. Fuego would catch up!

Fuego wouldn’t catch up. With Bryan taking over for Silas, he hit 2 targets with his first 2 shots, and then, immediately after Luke hit the 1st orange target for Fuego, Bryan hit Hielo’s 5th target, meaning HIELO!!! WINS IMMUNITY, sending Fuego to their 1st Tribal Council in 5 weeks, where one of you will be the 12th person voted out of Survivor Hamilton: Fire & Ice.
