Tribal Council #10

Previously on Survivor Hamilton: Old Meets New
Phase 2 of the game continued with our second 3-tribe Immunity Challenge. After Kobara has dominated all season long, they were bound to come back to Earth. But instead of simply losing to Nevala and Ulloo, they were crushed, and are now facing Tribal Council for the first time in a month. Add in a surprise Friday night Reward Challenge, and we have all the ingredients for a fun night at tribal for Kobara!

For the first time in a long time, it was an Immunity Challenge to forget for Kobara. Cowin earned their only point, with Kyle and Sharon sitting out, while the other 5 players contributed nothing in defeat. This was a tribe built from day one for a single purpose: winning. Even after the Tribe Swap, all expectations were that Kobara would continue to be the tribe to beat, but after sneaking through Monday’s Immunity Challenge unscathed, they paid the piper on Thursday.

Dave and Sharon were all too comfortable with weekend votes, having been through 3 of them over on the Nevala tribe. Being in the minority, 2-6, with OG Kobara players certainly had them feeling vulnerable, but all was not lost for them. Even in all of those blissful weeks of safety for Kobara, the returning players had continued to plan for their long-term games. There were splits in Kobara from the beginning, and Dave and Sharon were finding out that their votes were worth something to the vets.

Cowin and Chelsea had played Fire & Ice together, but after Cowin shook up the game in Week 2 (too soon Cowin!), they were both on the outs for the rest of the game. They were both determined to not let that happen again. Jonathan was always going to be a little step behind the others in the Immunity Challenges due to his work schedule, but he made it to the merge the last time he played, and with his name on everyone’s lips as a potential target today – to keep Kobara “strong” – he was planning on doing everything he could to match that achievement.

Jordan had made it all the way to the Final 3 last time around, despite finishing the game with the most votes against. He had survived 17 votes against throughout the game, while the 18th (cast by Meg) eliminated him just before the finale. It would be tough to repeat, but Jordan was game for whatever came his way. Elliott played a similar game to Jordan last time around, but was unfortunately voted out a few votes before the merge. But 13 years ago, Elliott and Kyle competed in one of Survivor Hamilton’s all-time greatest rivalries, with both of them out-surviving 38 other players to meet in a finale that included a tie-breaker. Could they both make it through this vote to continue their battle further into 2020? Let’s see!

So with these 6 beauties arriving at Tribal Council for the continuation of a weekend of stress and White Claws, feel free to check out our video below:

And now we get to the voting. If any player had a Hidden Immunity Idol, and they wanted to play it tonight, now would be the time to do so…

No?

So by a vote of 7-1, the tenth player voted out of Survivor Hamilton: Old Meets New is Jonathan! It’s easy to say that Jonathan had performed poorly in some Immunity Challenges so far in the game, and that Kobara 2.0 would be stronger without him, but the tribe unilaterally lost Thursday’s Immunity Challenge across the board. There’s much more to this game than winning and losing challenges, but for a tribe as proud as Kobara, this was the simplest decision with apparently the most positive immediate impact.

It will be sad to see Jonathan go, especially because of how hard he fought over the past week to stay alive. Ultimately he wasn’t able to match last season’s 11th place finish, but Jonathan still did the game of Survivor Hamilton very proud, and I’m excited to see what he has to say to the folks on the Exile Island chat.

As for the rest of you, congrats on making the Top 20! Enjoy the rest of the weekend, because I’m hoping that Monday’s Immunity Challenge will be an especially difficult one; though I still need to pick the question 🙂 Here’s Jonathan’s interview on PLAYED! with Meg & Mike:
